The Grizzlies came away with their 6th win of the season topping the Jaguars of Windham 6 to 5 in 9 innings of action packed baseball. The Grizzlie started the game with a run in the first inning after Will Soucy walked, stole 2nd base and was driven in by a Jake Bliven single to left. The Jaguars answered back in the 1st with 2 runs of their own thanks to some timely hitting. The Grizzlies added another run in the 4th to knot the game at 2 to 2 thanks to a leadoff double by Jake Bliven and a single by Myles Green to score Bliven. Derek Steckowych (No Decision: 4 innings pitched, 4 earned runs, 5 hits, 3 walks 5 K's) would silence the Jaguars bats in the 2nd and 3rd inning until the Jaguars tacked on 3 runs in the 4th to take a 5 to 2 lead. Ben Dodge led off the 5th inning with a walk then stole 2nd before scoring on an Eli Antoniello single to left to make it a 5 to 3 game after 5 innings. With their back against the wall down 2 runs in the 7th inning, the Grizzlies answered. River Pelletier led off the inning with a single to left followed by a Ben Dodge walk Will Soucy then doubled to left which scored Dodge but a terrific relay throw from Windhan shortstop beat Brad Baxter at the plate to keep the lead for Windham 5 to 4. With SOucy on 2nd and two outs in the 7th Derek Steckowych singled up the middle scoring Soucy and tying the game up 5 to 5. Eli Antoniello came in relief of Steckowych and shut down the Jaguars offense in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th inning, earning the win while striking out 4 and scattering 5 walks and 1 hit. The Grizzlies and Jaguars both went scoreless in the 8th inning thanks to great relief pitching by both teams. Ben Dodge walked to begin the 9th inning for the Grizzlies then stole 2nd and in his attempt to steal 3rd the Windham catcher threw away the ball allowing him to score the go ahead run making it 6 to 5 Goffstown. Liam Kilbreth and Will Soucy combined to pitch the 7th inning with Soucy earning the save and striking out the final two hitters of the game to seal the win for the Grizzlies. Leaders for the day Will Soucy 2 for 3 with a double, single, walk, sacrifice 2 runs scored and an RBI. Jake Bliven 2 for 4 with a double, single, run scored and an RBI. Ben Dodge 0 for 1 with 3 walks, 4 stolen bases and 3 runs scored. The Grizzlies pick up the action on Monday, May 8th at 4:00 pm against Lebanon at Lions Filed in Goffstown.
